Terminology
Crown Lift
This is used to raise the height of low branches on a tree. Carried out to keep paths clear or can help solve issues with allowing light to enter your house/garden.
Crown Reduction/Reshape
If your tree is getting too big we can reduce it's size by cutting back suitable growth points to keep it's natural shape and not cause harm to the tree.

Crown Thin
The removal of a proportion of secondary and small live growth from throughout the entire crown. Crossing, weak, dead and damaged branches are also removed resulting in even density of foliage.
Felling
Sometimes the only option is to completely remove a tree. Occasionally it will have to be dismantled in pieces, this is done with the use of ropes.
Pollard
This is a way to heavily reduce a tree down to it's stem to promote vigorous new growth. Typically carried out on species such as limes, planes or willows.

Removal of dead wood
The removal of all deadwood from a tree to prevent it from falling and causing injury to people or property.

Tree Preservation Order (TPO)
A tree preservation order is made by the local planning authority which makes it an offence to cut down, reduce or damage a tree without permission. TPO's are used to protect trees that contribute to the appearance of an area and are made if a tree is under threat of being cut down/damaged.
